I wanted to experiment with hammering some silver components for some new designs. I had a regular hammer, the kind you would bang nails with, but I didn't have a proper anvil. I was using a small flat area on a wrench but that was not working so well. I figured Lowe's or Home Depot would have anvils - they seem like things people would use in a workshop - but apparently anvils are not so in demand that stores would stock them. We even asked for a simple flat lump of metal, but those are not plentiful either. Lest you think I was looking for something Wyle E. Coyote would use on a roadrunner, I really wasn't. I just wanted a small "fun-size" anvil for jewelry. We finally called a metal-smith place in Raleigh and they agreed to saw off a chunk of steel beam for us. It literally looked like something you would find supporting a bridge. So we brought home this chunk of bridge support and I made a few hammered necklaces, which I think were quite nice. This fine factory also makes fabulous autopsy beds. If you're ever in need of one, I can give you the phone number.
Okay...okay I have to write something...this is my first blog so I hope people will find this and read it. Just signed into my gmail account in a long time and found that I can start a blog in 3 easy steps. So here I am blogging. I don't know what goes on beside me writing about my day...that's not too interesting. But, what's interesting is Sosi B. Jewelry. That's the whole reason for me to blog in the first place. Sosi B. jewelry is handmade sterling silver jewelry. We use semi-precious stones, crystals, and pearls in unusual color combinations that will outlast any season's trends. The design can be delicate or bold. See our website: sosibjewelry.com. You can email me from the website to tell me what you think about our jewerly. I would love to hear anyone's input! Thanks for reading this.
